I started my upper body weight program again today and I'm going to need a lot of time to bring the arm and shoulder back to where it was. I did 10 push ups yesterday and I couldn't go all the way down and the arm bothered me during the day. It's going to take time but I'm doing it right. As soon as the trails are dry I'm going to ride off road and see how it feels. I've been riding the road bike and using every hand position without much discomfort. I need to start increasing my mileage again since I've only been riding my 35 mile loop around Valley City, now I can start riding to work again which will give me 64-70 miles roud trip.
Hopefully no more accidents this summer. Come to think off, I've had some kind of accident or illness the last two summers. Last year it was the elbow doing ORAMM in NC. The year before it was anemia and walking pneumonia. 3 in a row, looking forward to an accident free summer.The Commuterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13893458881406826340noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6678707028517838289.post-51665351363267732392008-02-03T12:31:00.000-08:002008-02-03T12:32:41.117-08:00Ray ChesterAge: 59

Height/weight 6' / 151lbs.

Occupation: Excavating contractor

Disciplines: road racing, mountian biking, ex-motocrosser

Experience: 30 years
2007 race results
13th out of 170 at Iceman
2nd sport 50 class at Big Valley Race
4th sport 50 class at Fox Creek OMBC Race
8th Kirkland Cyclocross
Finished with Expert field at Medina Twin Sizzler

Racing goals: win my class at IcemanBuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10703726237217587998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6678707028517838289.post-19744746889198167742007-07-23T18:45:00.000-07:002008-02-04T19:02:31.972-08:00Ross Clark

Age: 32

Height/Weight: 5’-10” @ 162#

Occupation: Manufacturing Engineer @ Graco Children’s Products

Disciplines: Mountain & RoadExperience:

Class: - NORBA Category: Expert-

USA Cycling: Category: Race “A” when allowed, but license is only a Cat 5

Words to live by: “The sweet isn’t as sweet without the sour”Race Results:

2006 Endurance Racing – 1st place WV wild 100K, 5th Wilderness 101, 5th place LumberJack 100.
2006 XC – 4th place Expert Vultures Knob, 4th place Expert Fox Creek.
2006 Cyclocross – 6th place overall in “A” class cyclocross series (http://www.teamlakeeffect.com/)
2005 Cyclocross -- 4th place overall in “A” class cyclocross series (http://www.teamlakeeffect/).
2005 XC – 1st place Expert Vultures Knob, 1st place Expert Fall Fest (NY), 2nd place Expert West Brach, 3rd place Expert Lake Hope, Clearfork, and Snowtrails.
2005 Endurance Racing – 2nd place Mohican 100K

2003 I was the overall Sport class XC winner for both the West Virginia and Vermont NORBA races
2003 won (10) Sport Class races in the Ohio Mountain Bike XC Series
2004 won (3) “B” class cyclocross races and 3rd place overall Expert in the Ohio Mountain Bike XC Series (www.ombc.net )
2004 won the Ohio State NORBA Champion Expert race (www.bigvalleyrace.com)
2005 place 4th overall in “A” class cyclocross series (http://www.teamlakeeffect/). We reside in the Boro (Streetboro) with our two little girls, Emily (2.5 yrs) and Hannah (8 months).

Anything else:
I started bike riding like any other 4 year old kid…getting pushed down a grassy hill only to fall down and try again and again, until the moment everything worked. When I was in the 5 grade, freestyle biking was the only thing I was interested in, I read every issue of Freestyle magazine and BMX Plus and knew the price list for all components like the back of my hand. It took me ~ 8months to save enough money for my first freestyle bike, but it was worth it. Within a year all my friends were freestyling and we would travel to Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio for competition…Man those were the times, biking all day long, hitting the short ramp working on the newest trick you just read about in the magazine…Well a long time has passed since then, and I can say that I still love bikes. I started racing XC mountain bikes competitively in 2001. And, in 2003, I won the overall XC Sport title at Mt Snow and at Snowshoe NORBA events. For 2004 I made the jump to the expert class, and been very competitive, winning the NORBA Ohio State Championship and placing 3rd Expert overall in the Ohio Mountain Biking Challenge Series (OMBC). In the late fall of 2004 I started racing the local cyclocross series (http://www.teamlakeeffect.com/) on my Jamis XC Dakota and competing very well with the guys on true cyclocross bikes. This year I upgraded to the Jamis Super Nova and raced the “A” class, nothing like slicing through the mud and eases jumping obstacles like an 18# racing machine. In 2006 with the announcement on the “National Endurance Series” AKA 100 mile XC race series, I decided to change my training focus from 2- hour XC races to the 8+ hour body aching marathons. I was able to place 5th at the LumberJack 100 (Michigan), 5th at the Wilderness 101 (PA), and win the Wild 100K in West Virginia. In the off season I enjoys downhill skiing, running, wine tasting, and brew making. From 9 to 5 you’ll find me building child safety seats at Graco Children's Products, working as a manufacturing engineer. And from 5 to 8PM you’ll find me and my wife chasing around our 2 year old daughter Emily and caring for my little, but plump 6 wk old daughter Hannah….Can’t wait till summer to pull both in the Burley.
domestiquehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16711485163059548568noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6678707028517838289.post-10924749506938934252007-02-13T11:46:00.001-08:002007-02-16T10:22:26.379-08:00Juan PachecoBackground/Facts:

Age: 51
Height/Weight: 5'8" / 142
Occupation: International Accounts Customer Service
Disciplines: Mountain / Road / Multisport
Experience: 35 yrs on and off starting when I lived in Puerto Rico
Class:- NORBA Category:- USA Cyling: Category. The team had many highlights in 2005/2006 including Kevin Daum getting the Golden Buckle at Leadville 100, Ross Clark scoring a podium 5th place finish at Wilderness 101, Bob Rodgers recording a top 20 finish at Lumberjack 100, Steve Twining with numerous podiums in the OMBC XC Series, Tiffany Clark having two babies and still competing in the local cyclocross series, Jeff Augustine with numerous outstanding age group and overall finishes in local and regional triathalons. The team is expecting big things in 2007 with some new sponsors and new team members.

For 2007 the team will have 10 members (2 more potentially to be added) and will compete in a variety of cycling races including:
(i) Regional/national ultra endurance off-road events such as 100 milers and 12/24 hour races;
(ii) Local/regional traditional XC events such as OMBC XC series;
(iii) Local/regional road races; and
(iv) Local/regional/national cyclocross events.

On addition to our race schedule, many of us are involved in various charities and non-profit groups. We also help out with CAMBA and local trail building.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6678707028517838289.post-13267472586559534592007-01-03T12:15:00.000-08:002008-02-06T06:41:41.423-08:00Tiffany Clark

Background/Facts:
Age: 32
Height/Weight: 5'6"/are you kidding me!
Occupation: Nurse Practitioner
Disciplines: Mountain & Road

Experience: Racing since 2004- with a little time off here and there to have our 2 daughters: Emily 3 and Hannah 1 - oh yes, and to nurse a fractured wrist after a crash at Holiday Valley 6 HOP.

Class: - NORBA Category: Sport - USA Cyling: Category Cat 4/5

Words to live by: "There are no shortcuts to the top"- Ed Viesturs

Race Results:
2005 Women’s Sport Bean’s Bike Park 1st Place Series Sport
2005 OMBC 4th Place Women’s Sport
2005 Holiday Valley Fall Fest Women’s Sport 1st Place

2007 Race results
Chippewa Creek Road race- 1st place Cat 5
Raccoon Rally 6/30/07- 2nd place Women’s MTB
Twin Sizzler 7/4/07- 3rd place citizen
6 Hours of Power--- injury, broken wrist.

Racing Goals: Enjoy racing and no broken bones this year!
Hoping to improve on my road riding skills
Win the co-ed Holiday Valley 6 HOP- I hope my partner Bob will take me back!
Gain skills in my mountain biking and be a solid Sport rider!

Personal & Professional Life:

I work at The Cleveland Clinic as a Nurse Practitioner in our Center for Vaculitis Care and Research Center, working with rare diseases most of us will never even hear of. We are active in our church, which is actually in Hudson! In our neighborhood, we try and provide a good example of “family fitness”- we encourage those around us to bike- which for us includes the little ones on bikes. You can usually find Emily riding her Specialized Bike around the neighborhood with Mom or Dad pulling Hannah in her Burley. Our biggest contribution is to help provide support to the Camp Manatoc Race, in every way we can. Titan is our family trail companion and frisbee jumping guru. Graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Finance, Urban Planning and Design with a concentration in Real Estate. While a business student at KSU I assisted in the chartering of a new student credit union. I left Ohio in 1999 to work in Washington DC for a real estate internet startup. While there the company went through an IPO and grew from 30 employees to over 300; it was exciting and busy times and cycling took a back seat to insane working hours. Moved back to Ohio 2 years later and eventually went back to work for FirstEnergy Credit Union. My brother introduced me to my future wife at this time who was the Athletic Trainer for the high school soccer team my brother was captain for. I played soccer growing up but mainly spent my time on a bike or skateboard. I have climbed 3 - 14’ers (14,000ft mountains in Colorado) with a lifetime goal of climbing all 53 of them along with completing the Appalachian Trail. One of my most rewarding experiences was coaching traveling soccer where I inherited a 0-12 team and we went 11-1 my first year coaching. A huge inspiration in my life is my relationship with my little brother from Big Brothers and Little Sisters; after 10 years we continue to have a super strong bond and he is 100% part of my family.

Contributions to Community:
- Big Brothers and Sisters of Portage County (1995-present)
- Member of CAMBA (Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association) an IMBA affiliated mountain bike advocacy and trail building group.
- Founder of the orginal trail system at Reagan Park in Medina
- Race Director for the Big Valley Mountain Bike Race at Camp Manatoc (2001-present)
- E-licensed head coach for Traveling Soccer Club
- F.I.F.A. The 2007 season was a very good one for me. I raced in over 15 races and had many top 10 finishes and personal records (PR). I competed in three of the National Ultra Endurance races, Mohican 100, Lumberjack 100 and Wilderness 101, placing 19th, 29th and 33rd overall, respectively. The highlight of the season was my 5th place showing at the 12 Hours of Razorback (Reddick, Florida) amongst a strong solo field consisting of over 89 entrants. I logged 12 laps of the rugged 10 mile course and just missed the cutoff for a 13th lap which might have put me into the top three. Another highlight was the Mohican 100 where I was 19th overall with an 8:52 finish time among nearly 200 starters. I also had a good day at Wilderness 101, taking over 20 minutes off my finish time from the year prior and finishing in 33rd overall in a field of nearly 300.

2008 Racing Goals:
My goal events for 2008 include:
1. Top 10 in a NUE Series race (targeted races include Mohican 100, Wilderness 101, Breckenridge 100 and Shenandoah 100);
4. Compete in at least four to five races of the NUE Series;
5. In July of 2007, along with a partner, formed a real estate development company. Prior to that, I worked in the banking industry for 10 years and real estate sales/development for three years. Have a Masters Degree in Business (1998) and Bachelor of Arts in Economics (1992). Other interests include bicycle maintenance and repair, XC skiing and golf. My athletic background is quite diverse. I raced BMX, played baseball, wrestling, football and raced motocross through high school. I played rugby in college and represented the USA in an international tournament in 1995. In the summer of 1996 I ruptured by ACL in the United States National Rugby Finals. In December of 1996 I got married and in January of 1997, I quit my job and started business school. In the summer of 1998, I received my MBA. After graduate school, I worked in investment banking (14+ hour work days), gained 30 pounds (215, yikes), never saw my family and my cholesterol reached 210. In late 2000, I quit investment banking job, got a new job and got back into cycling. Cycling and family are my passions. I have a great career that I love.

Contributions to Community:
- Trustee of Ruffing Montessori School;
- Trustee of Fast Track Cycling (Cleveland's Indoor Velodrome)

- Member of CAMBA (Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association) an IMBA affiliated mountain bike advocacy and trail building group;
- Promote annual Chagrin River Cyclocross Challenge race;

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6678707028517838289.post-56450929068204486812006-12-30T05:36:00.001-08:002007-02-06T10:45:00.408-08:00Jeff Augustine

Background/Facts:

Age: 42
Height/Weight: 5'9/ 145
Occupation: Optometrist
Disciplines: Mountain Biking, Triathlete, Snowboarder
Experience: 10 years
Class: Senior Expert
- NORBA Category: Expert
- USA Cyling: Category 4
Words to live by: Diversification is the key to success and reduces boredom!

Race Results:

Racing Goals:
Long distance mountain bike racing and improve on time trial speed.

Personal & Professional Life:
Married to Melissa with four kids: Courtney, Taylor, Mason and Isabella

Contributions to Community:

Pay taxes on time.

Anything else:

Pool party at my house this summer! My father, from whom I inherited my social side, worked at Sharon Steel for 28 years and was forcefully retired after the plant closed. He now works in the school system as a bus driver and CC and Track Coach. Our family is all about cars and racing. We would go all over the country following the World of Outlaw Sprints. My dad still has his first car, my grandfather's 1951 Chevy. Its all hot rodded up. That's how I got the bug, and how I got started wrenching on cars. The Boy Scouts of America was a huge factor in my life, and I did attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
