Moved here in 1979 from PR. when my wife was hired by the Cleveland Public Schools as an English as a second language teacher. Worked at several places until I started working at Bird Technologies Group in Solon. Been there for 26 years. My family and I consider Ohio our home, but Puerto Rico is always in our hearts.
One of the best experiences of my life was riding cross country from Seattle to Mount Rushmore, South Dakota in 2003 with Paul Martins dad, Pastor Jim Martin and Ray Martinez. 1800 miles in 21 days, logging 7 or 8 100 plus days during the 3 weeks. What a beautiful country we have.

About The Team

The team was founded in 2006 although the many of the members have been riding and racing together for years. The team had many highlights in 2005/2006 including Kevin Daum getting the Golden Buckle at Leadville 100, Ross Clark scoring a podium 5th place finish at Wilderness 101, Bob Rodgers recording a top 20 finish at Lumberjack 100, Steve Twining with numerous podiums in the OMBC XC Series, Tiffany Clark having two babies and still competing in the local cyclocross series, Jeff Augustine with numerous outstanding age group and overall finishes in local and regional triathalons. The team is expecting big things in 2007 with some new sponsors and new team members.

For 2007 the team will have 10 members (2 more potentially to be added) and will compete in a variety of cycling races including:
(i) Regional/national ultra endurance off-road events such as 100 milers and 12/24 hour races;
(ii) Local/regional traditional XC events such as OMBC XC series;
(iii) Local/regional road races; and
(iv) Local/regional/national cyclocross events.

On addition to our race schedule, many of us are involved in various charities and non-profit groups. We also help out with CAMBA and local trail building.

Personal & Professional Life:

I work at The Cleveland Clinic as a Nurse Practitioner in our Center for Vaculitis Care and Research Center, working with rare diseases most of us will never even hear of. I love working with a dynamic patient population and take great pride in helping them through very difficult times. The little loves of my life, Emily and Hannah, are the absolute joy in my life. I would never have imagined the day to day laughes and smiles they give to me. Althought it is sometimes (most of the time) a challenge to be a mom and continue racing, I spend a lot of time on my trainer watching Tour de France and OMBC reruns so I'm ready when time does give Mama a day to race! Otherwise, you will most likely see me on the course with my camera and two little cuties by my side cheering for our #1 racer- Daddy!

Contributions to Community:

We currently reside in Streetsboro, Ohio. We are active in our church, which is actually in Hudson! In our neighborhood, we try and provide a good example of “family fitness”- we encourage those around us to bike- which for us includes the little ones on bikes. You can usually find Emily riding her Specialized Bike around the neighborhood with Mom or Dad pulling Hannah in her Burley. Our biggest contribution is to help provide support to the Camp Manatoc Race, in every way we can. This has been a wonderful event that has helped the sport of Mountain Biking grow in the surrounding area.

Personal & Professional Life:

Married to Connie and proud father to Landon age 2. Titan is our family trail companion and frisbee jumping guru. Graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Finance, Urban Planning and Design with a concentration in Real Estate. While a business student at KSU I assisted in the chartering of a new student credit union. I left Ohio in 1999 to work in Washington DC for a real estate internet startup. While there the company went through an IPO and grew from 30 employees to over 300; it was exciting and busy times and cycling took a back seat to insane working hours. Moved back to Ohio 2 years later and eventually went back to work for FirstEnergy Credit Union. My brother introduced me to my future wife at this time who was the Athletic Trainer for the high school soccer team my brother was captain for. I played soccer growing up but mainly spent my time on a bike or skateboard. I have climbed 3 - 14’ers (14,000ft mountains in Colorado) with a lifetime goal of climbing all 53 of them along with completing the Appalachian Trail. One of my most rewarding experiences was coaching traveling soccer where I inherited a 0-12 team and we went 11-1 my first year coaching. A huge inspiration in my life is my relationship with my little brother from Big Brothers and Little Sisters; after 10 years we continue to have a super strong bond and he is 100% part of my family.

Race Results:
The last six (6) years from 2001 through 2007, I have averaged over 25 races per year including road races, traditional cross country events, 12/24 hour team races, 12/24 solo races, offroad 100 milers, and cyclocross races. The 2007 season was a very good one for me. I raced in over 15 races and had many top 10 finishes and personal records (PR). I competed in three of the National Ultra Endurance races, Mohican 100, Lumberjack 100 and Wilderness 101, placing 19th, 29th and 33rd overall, respectively. The highlight of the season was my 5th place showing at the 12 Hours of Razorback (Reddick, Florida) amongst a strong solo field consisting of over 89 entrants. I logged 12 laps of the rugged 10 mile course and just missed the cutoff for a 13th lap which might have put me into the top three. Another highlight was the Mohican 100 where I was 19th overall with an 8:52 finish time among nearly 200 starters. I also had a good day at Wilderness 101, taking over 20 minutes off my finish time from the year prior and finishing in 33rd overall in a field of nearly 300.

2008 Racing Goals:
My goal events for 2008 include:
1. Top 3 at 12 Hours of Florida (formerly Razorback), FL;
2. Top 5 at Dirt, Sweat & Gears 12 Hour, TN;
3. Top 10 in a NUE Series race (targeted races include Mohican 100, Wilderness 101, Breckenridge 100 and Shenandoah 100);
4. Compete in at least four to five races of the NUE Series;
5. Podium Placement and 16 laps at 24 Hours of Big Bear, WV; (Granny Gear);

Personal & Professional Life:
I have been married for 11 years to my high school sweetheart, Shannon and a father to Madeline (7) and Alexander (4). In July of 2007, along with a partner, formed a real estate development company. Prior to that, I worked in the banking industry for 10 years and real estate sales/development for three years. Have a Masters Degree in Business (1998) and Bachelor of Arts in Economics (1992). Other interests include bicycle maintenance and repair, XC skiing and golf. My athletic background is quite diverse. I raced BMX, played baseball, wrestling, football and raced motocross through high school. I played rugby in college and represented the USA in an international tournament in 1995. In the summer of 1996 I ruptured by ACL in the United States National Rugby Finals. In December of 1996 I got married and in January of 1997, I quit my job and started business school. In the summer of 1998, I received my MBA. After graduate school, I worked in investment banking (14+ hour work days), gained 30 pounds (215, yikes), never saw my family and my cholesterol reached 210. In late 2000, I quit investment banking job, got a new job and got back into cycling. Cycling and family are my passions. I have a great career that I love.
